Hi, and thanks for visiting my Tiny Explorers Childminding website.
My name is Rada Scott and I run Tiny Explorers Childminding from my lovely family home in the Parklands area of Chichester. We're based only 3 minutes walk from Parklands Community Primary School and the local playground, and less than 100 metres from Centurion Way and the beautiful countryside.
I grew up in Croatia and moved to the UK over 15 years ago when I went to Chichester College as part of my degree course. I met my husband, Dave, during this time who was born and bred in Chichester and although we lived in London for some time we soon moved back to Chichester. We now have two amazing children called Emily and Ana, aged 4 and 2. They are very sociable and inquisitive little girls who love having their minds busy and challenged. Emily is a very outgoing and independent little girl who loves stories, painting, drawing, writing, singing and pretend play. Ana is a funny little entertainer who loves getting her hands messy and uses every opportunity to climb and role play.
My husband is a Marketing Director for a big IT company and loves to make our children camps as well as new and exciting wooden toys to play with.
I am a fully trained Early Years Teacher and also have a Masters Degree in Education. I have more than 15 years of experience of working with children of different ages, being a nursery practitioner, early years teacher and recently a lecturer at Kingston University which I believe is a great asset in my provision. After many years of working with early years and school children I moved to further education where I taught childcare courses to nursery staff and independent childminders, also I was a lecturer at Kingston University where I taught a Foundation Degree in Early Years. After many years of being in an education sector I have decided to use my knowledge and expertise in my own setting.
Alongside my degrees I have completed many additional courses to keep me up-to date with the policies and the changes in the educational sector. Some of the courses I have completed recently were Safeguarding Children, Food Hygiene, Paediatric First Aid, Understanding and Implementing the Prevent Duty and Fundamental British Values, EYFS Introductory Training Course, Autistic Spectrum Disorders and How to Support Dyslexic Learners.
I believe that the home environment is the most natural place for children to learn and develop. Being a mum of two I understand how hard it is to leave your child in the care of someone else and therefore I work closely with parents to tailor and develop a learning environment that will meet the needs of the individual child. I am always looking to create ways to help them develop, learn and flourish in the most stimulating and supportive environment.
When I was working at the college full-time and my children were in a nursery I craved more detailed feedback about their day, the activities that they had taken part in and the things that they had learnt. Unfortunately, all I would get was snippets of information which is why I like to ensure that parents get daily feedback and know what their little ones are up to with photos and videos.
We live in a large three-bedroom house with a large and secure back garden which has a big playhouse and slide, mud kitchen, sensory play area, water play, sandpit, fairy garden and space for tricycles and games. We also have a decent size allotment at the back of the garden where my children and I grow vegetables which has proved to be very effective in encouraging them to eat a whole variety of healthy new foods. They love picking them and then helping me to cook delicious organic meals. I’m very passionate about healthy eating, cooking, the environment, recycling, up-cycling, growing your own food, being outdoors and doing little science projects and will embrace it in my daily activities with the children.
I'd love to hear about your little ones so please do call or email me to arrange a chat.
Thanks – Rada
